Top legislator to visit Singapore, Australia

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will pay official visits to Singapore and Australia from November 26 to December 2, according to a statement of the NA Committee for External Relations released on November 22.

The visits will be made at the invitation of the parliaments and governments of Singapore and Australia.

Vietnam and Australia set up diplomatic ties in August 1, 1973. Singapore is current the sixth largest trade partner of Vietnam while Vietnam is the 11th biggest trade partner of Singapore. In the first seven months of 2017, two-way trade hit 5 billion USD, up 16.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, Vietnam and Australia have enjoyed growing partnership. Australia is the 19th largest investor of Vietnam with 407 projects worth 1.85 billion USD. Two-way trade reached about 5.3 billion USD in 2016, with Vietnam’s exports valued at 2.86 billion USD.
