Vietnam Airlines to add 1,100 flights for Tet Holiday

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines recently announced plans to provide additional 1,100 flights to a number of domestic routes to meet rising demand for the approaching Lunar New Year holiday.

The additional flights, which offer 220,000 seats, will run from January 31 to March 2, raising the total seats available on domestic routes to nearly 1.5 million, up 14% against the regular schedule and 21% on-year.

During the peak time on February 9-14 and on February 20-26, Vietnam Airlines will provide an additional 115 to 160 night flights which depart after from the midnight to 6 am, triple the usual frequency.

The flights will be run on 15 domestic routes from Hanoi to HCM City, Can Tho and Phu Quoc; from HCM City to Danang, Hai Phong, Thanh Thoa, Vinh, Dong Hoi, Hue, Pleiku, Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc.

The Hanoi-HCM City route will see the highest flight rise with 237 additional flights. It is followed by HCM City-Danang with the increase of 213 flights, HCM City-Hue with 104 flights.

Vietnam Airlines has advised passengers to book tickets at www.vietnamairlines.com or at its official ticket agencies to avoid being cheated or overcharged.

For domestic flights, passengers should be present at airports at least two hours before the departure time to finish check-in procedures. The birth certificate is required for children under 14 years old.
