Teacher suspended for hitting pupil
A nursery teacher in Vinh City, Nghe An Province has been suspended after a video clip showing her hitting a child was posted on the internet.
The video clip showing the abuse at ABC Montessori Preschool was posted online on April 19. In the clip, the teacher was holding a small child while walking across the room. She then sat down and suddenly hit the child multiple times. When the child tried to run, she pulled him back and hit him again.
There were two other teachers in the room but no one interfered. Only a few minutes later that one of them tried to take the boy away.
Nguyen Trong Hoan, head of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, said they suspended the teacher on April 20 after seeing the clip. They will work directly with the school during the investigation. Parents will be informed and the children's mental health will be assessed.
The department also ordered tightened management over teachers and discipline at work.
