Many people have lined up at mobile phone services providers after being informed of having their phone numbers cut if they do not provide photographs for registration.

Decree 49, issued last year, stipulates that all mobile subscriptions activated before April 24, 2017, must be registered with name, identification or passport number and a profile picture by April 24. If they fail to register, the providers will block incoming calls after 15 days and stop providing services in the next 15 days.

On April 19, customers flocked to Viettel store on Van Cao Street to take portrait photo. The employees had to put up another desk on the pavement to deal with the crowd. As a result, many people had to wait one to two hours and the road was filled with vehicles.

The Mobifone store on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street was also swamped. Many had to leave due to the long queue. The Vinaphone store also on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street received a huge number of customers.
