Vietnam’s national U23 team go into the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championships in the top seeded group.

They will be joined for the 2020 tournament by the Republic of Korea, Japan, Malaysia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Meanwhile, China, Australia, Thailand, Myanmar and Hong Kong (China) are in No 2 seeded group.

The No 3 seed group includes Cambodia, Indonesia, East Timor, Laos and Singapore. Mongolia, Brunei, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei and Macau are in group four.

Group five consists of Guam and Northern Mariana Islands.

As planned, the qualification of the AFC U-23 Championship 2020 will take place in March next year. However, the AFC now haven’t selected the hosts of qualifying round and final round.

Last year, Vietnam hosted Group I of qualifying round of the AFC U23 Championship 2018. They earned a ticket to compete in the final round as one of six best runners-up.
