At around 5.30 pm on September 19, a fishing boat with 18 crew members was working near the Cape of Ca Mau when suddenly one fisherman fell into the sea. The crew members and the man's family searched for him immediately but couldn't find anything.

Local authorities were asked to quickly report to the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to find solutions.

On August 31, a similar incident occurred on another fishing boat led by Tran Van Vu and 10 crew members. They were working near Hon Khoai Island when two fishermen suddenly disappeared.

On September 1, a fisherman on the boat led by captain Tran Van Ty went missing when they were mooring near Hon Khoai Island. The crew also searched for him and notified nearby ships but the fisherman was nowhere to be found.

The incident continued four days later when a fisherman on the boat led by Huynh Nhat Phi with two crew members disappeared near Hon Khoai Island.

The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has ordered the border guards, provincial Department of Capture Fisheries and Fisheries Resources Protection and Vietnam Maritime Communication System to issue a warning to active boats and help find the missing fishermen.
