Man kept in cage for years rescued
The police in Thanh Hoa Province are investigating how a 52-year-old man was kept in a cage for three years by his wife.
From January 4 to 5, an investigation team of Xuan Thien Commune People's Committee was sent to check Nam's house three times but his wife refused to let anyone get in. When the authorities were able to inspect the house on January 6, they found an opened cage on the second floor and Nam was staying in the adjacent room.
According to Nam's wife, he is a drug addict so the family decided to lock him in a cage as a drug treatment method. She said Nam was also willing to stay in the cage and the family still took good care of him.
However, Nam said that his wife and children forced him to stay inside the cage from October 23, 2015, until January 5. He also denied being a drug addict.
The police are investigating the case.
