HCM City Department of Transport has agreed to pilot the use of double decker buses for tourists.

A travel company proposed the idea, but the department rejected their request to end the tours at the popular and busy Nguyen Hue Street and instead want them to terminate at the Municipal Theatre.

According to the department, the display of stalls to sell tickets and distribute maps for visitors on the street as suggested by the travel company would affect traffic on the street.

The bus stops will be located in front of Nha Rong Wharf on Ton Duc Thang Street, the Museum of Ho Chi Minh Campaign on Le Duan Street, the War Remnants Museum on Vo Van Tan Street and on Pham Ngu Lao, Truong Dinh and Cong Xa Paris streets.

The route would operate from 9 am to 4:30 pm every day to avoid peak hours.

Hanoi, Quang Nam, Danang, Thua Thien-Hue, Lam Dong and Kien Giang already use such buses.
