Addressing the signing ceremony, General Secretary of the VFF Le Hoai Anh said that the MoU features a lot of important content aiming to further tighten the partnership in football development between the two sides.

Accordingly, priority will be given to cooperation programmes for the comprehensive development of men’s and women’s football, with a focus on the areas of organising friendly matches and training courses in Vietnam and Germany, coordinating to develop professional youth football, and exchanging stadium specialists.

The two sides will also work together in marketing and mobilising sponsorship and conducting social media and commercial activities in Vietnam and Germany, while providing support for German experts in fitness and goalkeeping training to work for Vietnam’s youth teams, Anh stated.

For his part, Pierre Michael Littbarski, the ambassador of VfL Wolfsburg, spoke highly of cooperation between the two sides, expressing his hopes that a diverse and in-depth collaboration would enable Vietnamese and German football to share practical interests on their development paths.

Pierre Michael Littbarski is one of the most famous German football stars in the 1980s. In his playing days, he joined the German national squad to finish as the runners-up at the 1982 and 1986 World Cups before finally winning the World Cup trophy in 1990.

Over recent times, Vietnamese football has signed contracts with German fitness trainers aiming to enhance the physical strength and resilience of Vietnamese players on the field. In early 2018, Dominic Palmer, an experienced German expert, was appointed as a fitness trainer for Vietnam’s national teams by the VFF.

The MoU between the VFF and VfL Wolfsburg is valid until 2021, and the two sides agreed to work out extension solutions based on the new requirements of the reality.
