A HCM City-Thanh Hoa flight was left in chaos after passengers found a pet mouse secretly brought on board by a passenger.

Tan Son Nhat Airport

The flight from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City to Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa Province landed safely but the whole plane was in chaos immediately after a mouse suddenly ran out of a bag.

Security staff at Tan Son Nhat Airport said that because the mouse was too small, it looked like a common organic product on the screen.

According to deputy Director of the Southern Airport Authority, Nguyen Minh Tuan, even though there are no written regulations, the security was responsible to report if they found passengers with live animals on the plane.

This is not the first time a mouse was found on a plane. In March, the crew of a flight from Buon Ma Thuot to Cat Bi also discovered a mouse on their plane and reported to the technicians immediately after landing. The plane's scheduled operation was suspended in order to find the mouse. As a result, the following flight from Cat Bi to Da Lat was delayed five hours and the flight from Cat Bi to HCM City was cancelled.

Ho Tan Minh, head of the Flight Safety Standard Department under the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam said there were a lot of cables on the plane which the rodents can chew on. If the passengers want to bring a mouse on the plane, they must obey specific conditions for handling and transportation.

All airlines have their own specific rules about animal transportation. Each species will get different requirements.

According to the International Air Transport Association, pets that can be considered checked baggage are only cats, dogs and birds. Other species are considered goods and have to follow different rules.
