Noi Bai aviation safety threatened by straw burning
Aircraft landing at Noi Bai International Airport are facing difficulties due to smoke caused by rice straw burning of local people.
Two locals have burned the rice straw after harvesting near the western area of Noi Bai Airport. The smoke hindered the view of the pilots when they started landing. They found three burning piles of straws and two piles on September 15 and 16 respectively.
After receiving reports by the Noi Bai Air Traffic Control Tower, the Northern Airports Authority have worked with the airport ground staff and local people to extinguish the fires.
In order to ensure aviation safety at Noi Bai Airport, Soc Son District authorities were asked to monitor the situation and hold promotion activities to prevent local farmers from burning the straw near the airport.
Communal authorities were asked to have co-operative measures to deal with the problem and visit every household to raise awareness. They must conduct more inspection to quickly detect and put out the fires quickly and deal with violators.
