The information was given by Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve, deputy head of the Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Agency at a press conference on the 39th ASEANAPOL in Hanoi this morning.

Huy, born in 1974 in Hanoi together with eight other colleagues at the company, were earlier charged with smuggling and serious accounting regulation violations on May 14.

Huy was alleged to have led an organised crime ring involved in cross-border smuggling and making two accounting books to hide trillions of VND revenues from tax authorities.

The Ministry of Public Security have issued a nationwide wanted notice against him. He has then added in the list of Interpol red notice following the proposal by the ministry.

Vietnam has also called on ASEAN to co-operate for the case.
