Dozens of outstanding inventions in IT, sciences and technologies, medicine and environment will be honoured at the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019 which will be held this evening, November 15, in Hanoi.

With the theme The Power of Digital Transformation, this year's awards aim at encouraging the inventions of products which help develop a digital economy.

This year also marks 15 years since the Vietnamese Talent Awards was launched. Initiated in 2005 by the Vietnam Study Promotion Association and co-organised by the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, Vietnam Television and Dantri/Dtinews online newspaper, the Vietnamese Talent Awards has become a prestigious annual national award.

Over the past 15 years, the Vietnamese Talent Awards have expanded to honour IT, science and technology, medicine, environment and study and talent promotion.

Given rapid global technological progress, the Vietnamese Talent Awards have adapted to these major developmental trends and the instruction of the party and the state on scientific and technological development.

During these 15-years, the programme has accepted 3,200 submissions from more than 7,000 candidates from home and abroad. With the youngest just 8 and the oldest 76.

The event has received great support from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Vietnam Union of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2017 ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Party and State have promulgated many policies to attract and honour bright people, as well as prioritising financial resources to develop young talents.

The award ceremony is hoped to motivate youngsters to make more remarkable contributions to society, promote emulation campaigns among youths, and raise public awareness of educating and nurturing the younger generations, he said.

This year's awards ceremony will be held at 8pm at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, 7 Nguyen Tri Phuong Street and live broadcasted on Vietnam Television' VTV2 channel.

Participants at the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2019 are mostly young people and start-ups.

The Information and Technology Awards is an important part of Vietnamese Talent Awards. The theme this year is The Power of Digital Transformation. A total of 418 products have been submitted to three categories of mobile and connection, start-ups and promising start-up awards. Winning product will be given a prize worth VND 200 million (USD8,696); while second prize winner will get VND100 million and third prize winner receive VND50 million.

Winning prizes in other fields including sciences and technologies, medicine and environment will also be presented VND200 million. Besides, the winners of self-learning awards will receive VND50 million.
