Dalat faces Tet traffic jams

Dalat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong experienced traffic jams in many local streets during Tet as the locality welcomed a large number of tourists.

In the first days of the Lunar New Year from January 27-29 Dalat saw a sharp increase in visitors.

  

  

Traffic congestion in Dalat on Tet


Since the morning of January 27, vehicles of more than 16 seats have been banned from going through Prenne Pass to Dalat during peak hours. Instead, they are instructed to travel through Mimosa Pass to ease traffic congestion.

Visitors from the central and southern region account for the majority of the traffic.

Lots of roads in Dalat which are narrow and tortuous saw gridlock such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Hoang Van Thu and Phan Chu Trinh.

The same situation was also reported roads around the tourist sites, including Datanla Waterfall and Van Thanh flower village.

During Tet, some northern and central localities were cold and wet, so people flocked to Dalat to enjoy the nicer weather.

Local police officers were assigned to be on duty at areas which faced traffic jams.
