The border province of Cao Bang received 1,457 Vietnamese people returning from China from February 4-22, according to the local authorities.

Of the total figure, 715 people have been kept in designated quarantine areas in the locality and the rest of 502 others have been taken to similar areas in Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces.

As of February, 108 people exited the quarantined areas after completing compulsory 14-day quarantine, said the local Department of Health.

Viet Nam has confirmed 16 COVID-19 patients so far and 15 of them, including two Chinese toursts and one American citizen, have been cleared of the virus and exited hospitals.

Thanks to drastic measures, no new infection cases have been reported since February 13, according to the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The Vietnamese Government has deployed various measures to combat the virus, including halting flights to COVID-19 hit regions, suspending visas for visitors from those regions, quarantining incoming travellers and suspending spring festivals and shutting schools until February 29.
