More fines for not wearing face masks in public
Many people have been fined for not wearing face masks at public places.
On March 30, Le Anh, chairman of Hai Chau District, Danang City, said two people had been fined the previous day. "We've been telling people to wear face masks multiple times for days but those people still violated the rules," he said.
Official papers about administrative fines for not wearing face masks are being widely prepared as the city authorities tighten monitoring and fining.
On March 29, an inspection team in Hue had fined two people for not wearing face masks when going to Thuong Bac Park. Phan Ngoc Tho, chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Province, said local authorities must step up public awareness and use strict punishments to any violators. The locality authorities must also take responsibility if any large gatherings occur in their areas.
"There are still people partying. Mothers bring their children outdoors without face masks. It's really dangerous," he said. "Local authorities should visit each residential cluster and get people to sign a commitment that they will follow the rules."
He went on to say that the residents should change their daily habits and limit going out. He emphasised the needs to use face masks, wash hands, and keep the air in the houses fresh.
