One more COVID-19 infection case confirmed, total rises to 327

A 31-year-old man returning from Russia became the latest COVID-19 case in Viet Nam, raising the country’s patient tally to 327, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported Tuesday afternoon.

The man landed at the Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on May 13 on flight VN0062 that carried 297 Vietnamese citizens from Russia.

He had been quarantined at a military school in Thai Binh Province since his arrival and is being treated at the locality’s General Hospital.

The man is the 33rd passenger boarding on the above flight contracting the virus. The flight carrying 345 Vietnamese citizens is part of the Government’s ongoing plan to repatriate citizens stranded abroad due to COVID-19.

As of 6pm on Tuesday, Viet Nam went 40 days without new COVID-19 community infection while the number of recovered case rose to 275, accounting for 84%.

As many as 14,739 people are being isolated and medically monitored, of whom 54 at hospitals, 12,379 at centralized quarantine camps and 2,306 at places of residence.
