Being hospitalised on March 6, Patient 19 who also suffers from vestibular disorder faced critical condition for many times during the treatment.

After that, her respiratory failure got worse so she was provided with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and dialysis. She experienced cardiac arrest for three times.

Following great efforts by doctors, on May 4, her condition considerably improved. She became conscious and could communicate. To date, she has tested negative for Covid-19 for seven times without having a fever and breathing difficulties.

She along with a British pilot and an 88-year-old woman in the northern province of Hung Yen were the three most severe Covid-19 cases in Vietnam.

The woman in Hung Yen had been discharged from hospital early this month for her recovery. Meanwhile, the 43-year-old pilot has also seen a slight health improvement following long treatment in HCM City.

A lung transplant will be carried out on him when his health is ensured.

Vietnam has marked the 40th consecutive day without community transmission.
