Over 300 Chinese traders to arrive in Vietnam to buy litchi
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved to let 309 Chinese traders arrive in Vietnam to buy litchi in Luc Ngan, Bac Giang Province.
Bac Giang authorities have asked the PM to let 309 Chinese traders arrive in Vietnam to choose, negotiate and buy lichi. They also asked for permission for the Japanese phytosanitary experts to come to Vietnam to inspect and ensure the export litchi to Japan. Bac Giang provincial authorities promised to strictly follow quarantine and monitoring procedures.
The Chinese traders will go to Vietnam via Huu Nghi Border Gate in Lang Son Province. According to La Van Nam, chairman of Luc Ngan District, said there were 29 hotels and guesthouses with 338 rooms and 454 beds that can be used to house the traders.
"The district police have been asked to arrange vehicles to carry the traders along with medical staff and translators," Nam said.
On May 28, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had sent an official document to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to apply special policies for the Japanese phytosanitary experts so that they can go to work in Vietnam quickly without a 14-day quarantine period.
The ministry promised to implement all preventive measures during their stay in Vietnam. They hope that this will help ease the farmers' difficulties amid Covid-19 outbreak.
