Rains are forecasted to happen in the northern region, including Hanoi, this evening, June 30, putting an end to the blazing hot snap with temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius.

Rains to end scorching hot spell in northern region.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting, an Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone, which is being formed in the northern mountainous areas, can cause rains and strong winds in many northern localities. Northwestern mountainous areas, in particular, would face the heavier rains with rainfall of up to 100mm/24 hours.

The northern region would face more rains on July 1-4. Hail and violent winds would happen during rains.

The country’s average temperature in this summer has been predicted to be 0.5-1.5 degrees Celsius higher than that of previous years. Localities in the north and those from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue provinces have seen the highest temperature rise of 1-2 degrees against previous years.
