Thanh Hoa residential area quarantined following new Covid-19 case

A residential area in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa has been quarantined after a local person tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.


A residential area in Quang Vinh Ward, Sam Son Town is blocked on August 6 for Covid-19 prevention.

The isolation was imposed on the residential area in Quang Vinh Ward, Sam Son Town, which is home to 309 households since Wednesday evening, said Tran Van Hung, party secretary of the ward's committee.


According to the provincial standing board of Covid-19 prevention and control, on Wednesday, a 54 -year-old woman in Quang Vinh Ward tested positive for Covid-19 once after taking a coach from Danang City to Thanh Hoa on July 27.

At around 6 am on July 28, she got off the coach in Quang Xuong District and drove her motorbike which was put on the vehicle to her home.

On August 3, she had high fever and then moved to Sam Son General Hospital where she tested positive for the first time.

Luong Tat Thang, chairman of Sam Son People’s Committee, said that the coach also included a Covid-19 case from the northern province of Ha Nam, Patient 620.

In related news, Vien Dinh Nam, Vice Chairman of Quang Hung Commune in Sam Son City has been suspended for 15 days for his slow response to Covid-19 pandemic.

Sam Son City People’s Committee said that 13 people were defined to have had close contact with the Covid-19 patient in Quang Vinh Ward, including two from Quang Hung Commune. So the town’s health delegation was instructed to come to the ward to check and prepare for the quarantine.

However, Nam refused to go, saying that he did not go there as it was raining.
