Vietnam Embassy in US presents 10,000 face masks to Maryland

The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States on August 7 presented 10,000 face masks to the US state of Maryland to help the local government deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc handed over the gifts to representatives of the Maryland administration, emphasizing this activity demonstrated the friendship and cooperation, as well as the spirit of mutual support between the Government and people of the two countries, including joint efforts to combat COVID-19.

He thanked the US government for sharing information about epidemic research and providing medical supplies, including 100 ventilators, to support the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Vietnam.

Receiving the donation, Maryland Secretary of State John Wobensmith affirmed that this was a practical result of the increasingly deep cooperation between the two countries’ localities and that the local administration will effectively use the gifts.

Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc and Secretary John Wobensmith exchanged ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of trade and investment, marine engineering, shipbuilding, high technology and education which are Maryland’s strengths. Ambassador Ngoc proposed the Maryland administration provide continued support for the Vietnamese community of about 30,000 people in the state.

Maryland and Vietnam’s Ninh Thuan established twin city relationship in 2011. The two sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on trade, education and cultural cooperation.
