Vietnam records 16 new Covid-19 infection cases, total rises to 863

16 new Covid-19 infection cases have just been confirmed in Vietnam, raising the total number of patients to 863, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on Tuesday evening.

The new patients include 10 in Danang City, four in Quang Nam Province, and two in Quang Tri Province.

Patients numbered from 848-856 and Patient 863 are from Danang City. They include six women and four men aged between 14-78.

Patients numbered from 857-860 are three women and a man aged between 26-55 in Quang Nam Province. They are caregivers at the Danang Hospital or came into contact with Covid-19 patients.

Patients 861 and 862 are two women aged 36 and 66 years old from Quang Tri Province. They also had close contact with Covid-19 patients before testing positive for the virus.

With these latest infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients related to Danang City has increased to 405 since July 25, the committee said.

As of Tuesday evening, a total of 399 patients have recovered and the country has reported 16 deaths.

At present, 165,983 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
