Social distancing regulations have been extended for the central city of Danang as the Covid-19 outbreak has continued.

The decision was made by the municipal people’s committee in line with the government decree on Covid-19 prevention and control.

The lockdown will start from Tuesday midnight for the whole city until the city has the new announcement, except for Hoa Vang District which has had to conform to the order since 1 pm on Tuesday.

Local families are asked to keep a safe distance from one another.

The Department of Health has to work with the city’s Disease Control Centre, localities and concerned agencies to intensify the tracing of vulnerable people for being quarantined and tested.

Strict prevention measures also need to be applied at medical facilities to ensure safety for medical staff. It is also important to implement disease prevention at markets, supermarkets and fish ports.

According to the Danang Department of Industry and Trade, from August 12, each local household is permitted to go to market once every three days.

Households will be granted five cards for even and odd days to go to market every 15 days. Each card is only valid for any market in Danang once.

When the cards are used, they will be kept by the market management board to serve epidemic purposes in necessary cases.

Markets are required to provide hand wash and temperature checks. People have to ensure the minimum safety distance of 2 metres at the market.

Anyone who fails to obey Covid-19 prevention regulations are not allowed to come into markets and would be fined.

Social distancing was earlier imposed on Danang from July 28 following the Covid-19 developments.

Covid-19 returned to Vietnam on July 25 after more than three months without no community transmission cases reported.
