Vietnam’s Covid-19 infections keep rising

The Ministry of Health announced three new Covid-19 cases on Thursday morning, raising the national Covid-19 tally to 880.

According to the ministry, two among the latest patients were from the central province of Quang Nam, while the other is from the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.

Patient 881, 40, took a flight from UAE to Can Tho International Airport on August 9 and tested positive for the virus two days later. She is now being treated at Bac Lieu General Hospital.

Patient 882 is a 51-year-old man who took care of his mother at Quang Nam General Hospital by late July. His mother then contracted Covid-19. He was also tested positive for the virus on August 12.

Meanwhile, Patient 883 is an 83-year-old woman whose daughter was a Covid-19 case. She is now staying at Quang Nam General Hospital for the treatment.

To date, Vietnam has registered a total of 883 Covid-19 patients, including up to 421 detected since July 25 when the central city of Danang’s outbreak happened.

At present, 133,340 people under quarantine in the country with 5,361 at hospitals; 25,043 at quarantine facilities and the remainder at places where they are living.
