According to the ministry's report, the 30-year-old Indian man belongs to a group of 49 Indian experts who arrived in Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 6.
They are all young experts and workers who arrived to work at Sa Dec Industrial Zone in Dong Thap Province. They were sent to a quarantine area in Dong Thap Province upon arrival.
Earlier 16 other people who boarded this flight had been infected with coronavirus.
He is now being treated at the Ho Chi Minh City's Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
The 37-year-old Vietnamese man returned from Myanmar at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on October 15.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 435.
As of 6pm on October 17, a total of 1,031 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
The country has gone 45 days without reporting any new case in the community.
At present,13,090 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
