Nepali man among three new Covid-19 patients in Vietnam

A Nepali man and two Vietnamese citizens who recently arrived in Vietnam have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,361, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the 40-year-old Nepali man landed in Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport from the US on December 1. He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

The next patient is a 48-year-old Vietnamese man who returned from the US at Danang Airport on December 1. He was also sent to quarantine upon arrival and is now being treated at the Danang Lung Hospital.

The last patient is a 27-year-old Vietnamese man who returned from Germany at Van Don Airport on November 19. He was sent to a quarantine area in Thai Binh Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in his third testing on December 2. He is now being treated at the Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 667.

As of 6 pm on December 3, a total of 1,209 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, 16,582 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
