According to the firm, the expansion would cost VND5 trillion (USD217.391), including site clearance.

A representative from Phap Van-Cau Gie JSC said that the expressway was initially projected to reach 92,000 passenger car units (PCU) every day in 2022. However, the figure was at 84,240 PCU daily on average in 2019, and 144,265 PCU during the holidays.

This year, it would be 101,088 PCU per day, 9.6% higher than the designed maximum capacity.

He added that the expressway expansion is necessary to help deal with the route’s traffic congestion, particularly on holidays. Besides, the route operation has brought good revenues.

Under the company’s proposal, the expansion would be carried out under the form of BOT (build-operate-transfer) between three and five years.
