International flower festival scheduled to take place in central Vietnam

A EUR122 million (USD148.1 million) international flower festival is slated to be organised in the central province of Quang Binh in 2023.

Authorities of Quang Binh on January 20, held a meeting to inform local agencies of the event after the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) ratified the province to host the festival.

The festival is scheduled to last from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024, covering an area of 89 ha in Quang Ninh District’s Hai Ninh commune. It will be jointly conducted by PAN Asia Co., Quang Binh International Exhibition JSC and Japanese event organiser Hakuhodo.

The event is expected to lure eight million visitors, including 2.5 million foreigners, creating revenues of EUR148 million. Of the sum, around VND300 billion (USD13 million) would be contributed to the state budget.

After the festival ends, its facilities will be handed over to the locality for the management in line with the AIPH’s regulations.

Ho An Phong, vice chairman of Quang Binh Province, said that this is the first kind to be held in Vietnam. Coming to Quang Binh, visitors will have a chance to see different local destinations such as Son Doong Cave and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

Phong added that the festival is hoped to promote the provincial tourism sector to the world.
