Vietnam reports falling Covid-19 infections on Monday

Vietnam confirmed an additional 9,362 Covid-19 infections on Monday and 10,528 patients were discharged from hospital following their recovery the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 9,342 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 36 localities including HCM City (4,134), Binh Duong (3,793), Dong Nai (616), Long An (190), An Giang (131), and Tay Ninh (80). There were 20 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infection number showed a decrease of 669 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 4,453 infections found in the community.


As of Monday evening, 761,527 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (375,794), Binh Duong (203,989), Dong Nai (46,283), Long An (31,979), and Tien Giang (13,845). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 766,051. The country now stands 44th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 27, an additional 10,528 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 538,454.

On Monday evening, a further 174 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 18,758. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (122), Binh Duong (32), Tay Ninh (4), An Giang (4), Dong Nai (4), Can Tho (3), Dong Thap (2), Tien Giang (1), Binh Thuan (1), and Danang (1).

The country has so far conducted over 39.23 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 8.28 million people having received two doses.
