Deprived children receive help to study online

The Vietnam Association for Promoting Education has donated millions of VND and 200 gifts to help poor students in Hanoi have devices for study online.

The move was a response to the Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Education and Training’s joint Internet Connection and Computers for Students campaign.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Minh, chairwoman of the Association for Promoting Education in Hanoi, said since the programme was launched, the association had raised VND800m (USD35,000) and 25 computers from various individuals and organisations.

On September 27, Vietnam Association for Promoting Education transferred VND40m (USD1,700)each to Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin, Phuc Tho provinces and several localities. The money will be used to buy school supplies and electronic devices to help children study online. They also sent gifts worth VND1m each to 150 students and 50 workers.

VND400m (USD17,500) was previously sent to help the students in Ba Vi, Ung Hoa, Soc Son and Chuong My districts. Each district received VND100m and Ba Vi District was given 25 computers.
