Over 4,000 more Covid-19 infections confirmed in 47 localities

An additional 4,411 Covid-19 infections were confirmed in the past 24 hours in 47 localities in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, 4,404 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 47 localities including HCM City (1,140), Binh Duong (521), Dong Nai (499), Dak Lak (254), Bac Lieu (242), An Giang (221), Tay Ninh (202), Kien Giang (150), Tien Giang (127), Soc Trang (98), Can Tho (98), Binh Thuan (97), and Quang Nam (92). There were seven imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 812 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,052 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 895,793 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (428,013), Binh Duong (230,406), Dong Nai (62,970), Long An (34,448), and Tien Giang (15,985). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 900,585. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On October 27, an additional 2,024 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 812,314 .

On Wednesday evening, a further 54 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 21,856. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (32), Binh Duong (8 ), Long An (4), Bac Lieu (3), Dong Nai (2), Tay Ninh (1), Thanh Hoa (1), Kien Giang (1), An Giang (1), and Soc Trang (1).

Vietnam today administered more than 1.01 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 75.97 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 22.23 million people having received two doses.
