With the two new additions, the university currently has five member schools.

Dr Huynh Trung Hai, Rector of the School of Materials, said it would focus on training materials engineering and technology courses that serve industries such as metals and alloys, textiles, footwear, plastics, rubber, composites, electronics and semiconductor materials, printing and communication.

The School of Chemistry and Life Sciences will offer training courses in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical chemistry, bioengineering, food engineering, environmental engineering, and environmental and resource management.

Last year, the university established the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical-Electronics and School of Information and Communication Technology.

Established in 1956, it was Vietnam's first multidisciplinary technical university.
