The Ministry of Information & Communications (MIC) and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on Nov. 26 handed over VND5.7 billion ($300,000) worth of donation to four provinces that recently suffered from flood in central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
The donation was generated through 840,803 text messages sent to the national humanity information portal at telephone number 1400.
Representatives from the four provinces of Quang Nam, Kontum, Quang Ngai and Phu Yen received donation of VND1.8 billion, VND1.2 billion, VND1.2 billion and VND1.525 billion, respectively.
According to the MIC, the program, which was carried from Oct. 10 to Nov.10, attracted 382,330 SMSs from Viettel’s subcribers, 232,525 SMSs from MobiFone subcribers, 211,730 SMSs from VinaPhone users, and the rest from EVN and SFone.
