A “Vietnam Night” held in Belgium attracted nearly 100 people of different nationalities to come and learn about Vietnamese culture.

The gathering was held on Nov. 20 in Louvain la Neuve, a small city 30 kilometres away from Belgium’s capital Bruxelles, by the Vietnamese community with help from local friends. The event introduced Vietnamese culture to foreign friends and raised money for the charity fund “A Heart for You”, which is donated to poor children suffering from heart diseases in Vietnam.

Several pictures, video clips and other documents and handicraft items were presented to deliver a panoramic view of Vietnamese culture and people. The cooking session for the party involved many foreigners, who were really impressed by the wide variety of Vietnamese cooking ingredients and the sophistication of Vietnamese foods.

Vietnamese foods were particularly enjoyed by guests.

A highlight of the show was the remarkable performance of Dan Tranh, a traditional 16-chord zither Vietnamese musical instrument, by Quoc Vinh, a Vietnamese woman who had been living in Belgium for a long time.

On this occasion, the “Association of Vietnamese language lovers in Louvain la Neuve” was established for teaching Vietnamese and spreading Vietnamese culture in Belgium. The idea was highly supported by many young Vietnamese people and students in Belgium.

In the recent years, friendly relationship between Vietnam and Belgium has been more and more developed. A series of cultural and business activities have taken place in many cities.
