ICT Awards welcome 2nd birthday

Press conference on Mar 17 to announce the awards ceremony

The 2009 ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) awards ceremony will be held on March 20, 2010 at the Opera House of Hanoi by the Ministry of Information & Communications (MIC).

The MIC revealed that there were 80 candidates selected for the final round and there would be 30 prizes in 5 fields.

Secretariat of the Awards received 45 applications from the Information Technology (IT) industry, 70 applications from the Vietnamese enterprise sector and 36 applications of state agencies.

According to the Secretariat of the Awards, the number of applications increased over two times compared with last year and the quality of the competition products is also much better than last year.

It is a national annual awards programme that will turn 2 years old. It includes the following fields: (1) providing fixed, mobile and internet telecommunication services, (2) IT industry, (3) IT application, (4) IT human resource training, (5) foreign organisations or companies contributing to Vietnamese IT development and (6) potential young Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) enterprises.

Democracy, Publicity and Transparency has been set as criteria of the award by the MIC. Accordingly, a council of primary examiners will work together then submit their results to a jury for final examination including ICT regulators and experts, ICT Association leaders, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI) and media representatives.
