There was a recent meeting in Nghe An to address the problem of "dog theft".

The meeting drew thousands of residents of the community

Many locals attended, who said that the dog theft was getting out of control, and needed to be addressed by authorities.

Nguyen Thi Hieu, an 80-year old woman who attended the meeting said, "These people who are stealing dogs should be identified so we can discourage any further incidents."

There has been a spate of people stealing dogs. Some of these cases have been criminally prosecuted, including Nguyen Khac Giang. He topped the list, allegedly stealing 10 dogs. He was also accused of other robberies, including chickens and one goat.

Nguyen Dinh Dai, a local man, said, “The dog-theft epidemic has caused a lot of disorder in the community recently. Parents should watch over their children."

Senior Lieutenant-colonel Phan Dinh Suu, Head of Nghi Loc District Police Department said that they will investigate further into these incidents, in order to come up with a way to deal with perpetrators of crimes like these.
