Haiphong municipal Party Committee and People's Committee have decided to dismiss the chairman and vice chairman of Tien Lang District People’s Committee for unlawfully evicting Doan Van Vuon from his land.

Tien Lang District top leaders officially dismissed

They came to the decision on Le Van Hien and his deputy, Nguyen Van Khanh, on February 23, after the Prime Minister’s recent intervention.

After being notified of the penalty, Le Van Hien made an apology to central Party and Government leaders, local officials and party members, as well as the people of Tien Lang District. He admitted to giving orders to withdraw 40 hectares of land allocated to 49-year-old Doan Van Vuon, of Vinh Quang Commune, on January 5, 2012.

Apart from the dismissals, a warning was given to other officials including Bui The Nghia, Secretary of the District Party Committee; Hoang Dang Chinh, Standing Member of the District Party Committee; and Le Van Mai, Head of the District Police for their support in the forcible land withdrawal.

On the same day, the municipal government nominated Luong Huu Huyen, Standing Member of the District Party Committee, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, to temporarily act as chairman of the District People’s Committee before an official election is carried out.

A few days ago, Tien Lang District authorities decided to revoke their forcible land confiscation from Doan Van Vuon. This will mean the court case that was set to get underway in Haiphong will not be heard.
