Vietnam rejects Taiwan’s plan to conduct a live-fire training exercise on Vietnam’s Ba Binh Island in September, said Foreign Minister Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi.

Spokesperson Nghi made the point on August 23 at a regular press briefing in reply to reporters’ enquiries about Vietnam’s reaction to the plan, which was announced by Taiwan on August 20.

Nghi said that Taiwan’s organization of live-fire training exercise on Ba Binh Island of Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago seriously violates Vietnam’s sovereignty, threatens peace, stability, security and maritime safety and ignites tension and complication in the East Sea.

“Vietnam demands that Taiwan cancel the plan immediately”, the Spokesperson stressed.
