State President Truong Tan Sang and his delegation arrived in Astana on September 9 for their two-day visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
This is a follow-up to the Kazakhstani leader’s visit to Vietnam in late October last year.

President Sang was welcomed at the airport by Minister of Industry and Technology Isekesev Orentaevich, Kazakhstani ambassador to Vietnam Nurlan Yermekbayyev, Vietnamese ambassador to Kazakhstan Nguyen Van Hoa, Vietnamese embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Kazakhstan.

President Sang’s visit aims to strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in mining, oil and gas exploitation, economics and trade.

The two sides will kick-start negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and Customs Alliance members including Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan with the aim of lifting two-way trade turnover to a higher level on par with the fine development of political relations.

President Sang will also attend the launch of “Vietnam’s Culture Days in Kazakhstan” to mark the 20th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.
