Hanoi will remove and re-allocate of 56 petrol stations which do not meet city planning requirements or violate safety standards.

These measures were included in the city’s petrol station system planning recently approved by the local People’s Committee. The plan aims to improve the availability of petrol supplies to city drivers.

By the end of 2020, the city will build around 347 petrol stations, including 201 to be built by 2015. Between 2020 and 2030, 31-50 petrol stations will be built in the city.

The expected total investment for the planning from now until to 2015 will be VND989 billion (USD47.1 million), and the figure for the 2016 - 2020 period will be VND630 billion (USD30 million). The capital will be provided by petroleum traders. The new petrol stations will require more than 500,000 square metres of land.
