Hanoi-Exhibition historic artifacts via 3D technology

National Museum of Vietnamese History, 25 Tong Dan street

Displaying nearly 150 artifacts belonging to collections ‘Vietnam Buddhism Culture Heritage’ and ‘Vietnam Ancient Lamps’ in 3D technology at http://disanvanhoaphatgiao.egal.vn and http://denco.egal.vn.

The space includes stilt houses, ceilings, walls, interior decorations, documents and artifacts. Especially, in each area, visitors will be lectured in English and Vietnamese language via video clips.

Exhibitions often are held in a particular time period in the museum, so via the internet, viewers who have no time to go to the exhibition can also admire objects live. The museum now is keeping more than 200,000 artifacts dating from prehistoric time until now. 

Haiphong City-Photo exhibition to highlight Red River civilization

Aug 28- Sept 6

A selection of 162 photos, chosen among 2,900 entries in a photo contest themed “Discover the Red River Civilisation” submitted by 286 photographers across the country.

Apart from the photos, the exhibition will also display 153 pictures on the daily lives of naval soldiers, who are guarding the country’s territorial waters.

An exhibition of 36 photos of the Canadian Arctic taken by different photographers. Introducing the beauty and imposing scenes of nature and people's lives in the Arctic. 

Danang-Buddhist antiques on display

Until Sept 16, Da Nang Museum, 78 Le Duan Street

A collection of 80 antiques dating from the seventh to the 19th centuries.

The items outline the development of Buddhism in the central region, including statues of Buddha, Bodhisattvas (beings on path to enlightenment) and Arhats (enlightened beings) made from wood, stone and brass.

HCMC-Exhibition “Homeland”

Until Aug 30, Tu do Gallery, 53 Ho Tung Mau, Dis. 1

A painting exhibition by Phu Nam whose works depict the native lands and people of the Mekong Delta, his motherland. Here, a large number of Khmer minorities have lived for thousands of years. 7 of Phu Nam’s lacquer paintings, created from 1995 – 2000, are also to be shown.

Hanoi-Exhibition “The city: Becoming and Decaying”

Introducing 176 photographs from global cities by photographers from the OSTKREUZ agency of Germany.

The show features photo reportage from of 22 cities.  The exhibition portrays urban spaces as the future of the world and will determine how people live together.

Hanoi-Paintings depict One Day of Daddy

Introducing more than 60 illustrations from a newly-released picture book titled Mot Ngay Cua Bo (One Day of Daddy).

The pictures by Thai My Phuong and accompanying story by Thu Nho show an ordinary day of a father who is busy with his children and office work. Before going to work he takes his children to school and, at the end of the day, brings them home. The lively, meticulous and colorful illustrations and story show, not only the relationship between father and child, but deal with larger social issues.

HCMC- Group exhibitions by four artists

Around 50 artworks by Vu Dung, Tran Hong Suong, Vo Vu Thuy Linh and Vo Cao Dinh are on display, bringing varied tastes for visitors with different themes, styles and materials. 

HCMC- State of Journey exhibition

HCMC-Music show for charity

The oratorio Lua (silk), by Vietnamese composer Quoc Bao will be on stage for one night only, with the participants of singers Phuong Linh, Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Trung Dung, Dong Lan, Thanh Loc, Nguyen Ha, Dung Dalat Band, violinist Phuc Hanh and musician Bao Chan. MC Nguyen Minh is narrator.

All proceeds from the gig will go to a fund helping children with blood cancer.

Hanoi-Concert with Anne Chamberlain

Together with Vietnamese musicians, Chamberlain will take the audience on a musical journey from 18th century German classic, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to the Argentinian tango, revisited in a contemporary way by the founder of Tango Nuevo, Astor Piazzolla in the 20th century. Tango Nuevo combines the passion and drama of the classical tango with new rhythms, influenced by jazz and folklore music.

Hanoi-Shadow Play: Electro Acoustic Cai Luong

Two of Vietnam’s most promising young musicians, Luong Hue Trinh and Nguyen Thuy Dung have teamed up with award-winning violinist Dao Van Trung for a re-working of Cai Luong which is a blend of folk and classical used in theatre.  

Together they’ll be condensing Cai Luong’s theatrical history into their modern interpretation of the genre to bring the audience a score that reflects the highs and lows of their personal stories.

Hanoi-Selected short films of the Video Artist Harun Farocki

Internationally acknowledged video artist Harun Farocki is one of the most outstanding representatives of German experimental film.

On the occasion of his visit to Vietnam, the Goethe-Institut Hanoi will present four of his films on two evenings. The selected short films deal with topics as labour (“Workers leaving the factory”), war (Pictures of the World and Inscriptions of War”, “Inextinguishable Fire”) and consumer society (“Still life”).

Vung Tau City- Food festival on National Day

The festival will have 36 stalls manned by professional chefs who will cook and serve foods from Vietnam, Malaysia , Thailand , Ukraine and Japan. A live music concert will also be held every night.

Ha Giang Province- Mong ethnic pan-pipe festival

Aug 31- Sept 2, Dong Van Karst Plateau

A 3-day festival dedicated to the pan-pipe playing of the Mong ethnic group. Introducing a wide range of cultural activities, including pan-pipe dancing and performances of ancient songs. A dancing contest will be held, gathering several local ethnic pan-pipe artists.

An art exhibition featuring paintings by veteran artist Do Duc will be open to public during the event. The painter has visited the karst plateau many times and fell in love with the land and its people, who have given him great inspiration for his artworks.

Hanoi-Metropole’s Legendary Night Market

Ha Tinh Province-Ha Tinh folk song festival

The second Ha Tinh folk song festival will feature the participation of more than 30 folk song clubs from the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

Vi dam singing originated in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces when farmers sang while working the fields.

Hanoi- Hanoi Vertical Run

Amateur and elite athletes are invited to join the Hanoi Vertical Run, Vietnam’s highest stair climbing race.

The runners will compete to be the fastest to ascend the 1,914 steps that lead to the top of the 72-storey tower.

Most participants are likely to take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the race, although elite competitors can finish in about 10 minutes.

Hoa Binh-Bike adventure

A two-day cycling trip in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh to raise awareness of responsible tourism.

Anyone who is interested in the trip will be shuttled to Luong Son district and start a 30km bike ride. Exprloring natural beauty; joining community activities including picking up waste, repairing a local school and building for it a water tank; sleeping in still houses by the Hoa Binh Reservoir and sampling ethnic local dishes are also included in the trip’s programme.

Hoi An- Monster Swim Vietnam
