Singers and bands from 15 countries to perform in Hanoi

Well-known bands and singers from 15 nations and territories in the Asia-Pacific region will get together for the ABU TV Song Festival on Saturday night.

Pop singer Van Mai Huong and Ngu Cung band will represent the host Vietnam with the songs La Em Do (It's Me) and Cao Nguyen Da (Rock Plateau).

"We were surprised to be picked to represent Vietnam next to international counterparts. We will play Cao Nguyen Da by Tran Tien in rock style," said Hung Cuong, a member of Ngu Cung band.

South Korea sends band Sistar; Sri Lanka, China, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia will also send famous musicians.

The first festival took place in Seoul, South Korea. The event was initiated by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and the Korea Broadcasting System, which aims to strengthen cultural exchange among countries in the region.

The performance will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and rebroadcast in participants' homelands as well as ABU member countries.

The performance starts at 8pm at the Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi.
