PM Nguyen Tan Dung on December 15 (local time) met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and overseas Vietnamese in Japan.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung, around 55,000 Vietnamese people are living and studying in Japan. The overseas Vietnamese community has positively integrated into the local society and helped promote the friendship ties between Vietnam and Japan.

The PM underscored that the Vietnam-Japan relations have entered the best period especially in terms of political trust.

Japan has been the biggest ODA provider and FDI investor in Vietnam. In addition, the cooperation in national defense, security, and education-training has been flourishing.

PM Dung hoped that the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan would do their best to cement and deepen the bilateral ties and create more favorable conditions for respective businesses to seek business opportunities.

“Every staff in the Embassy, student, businessman and overseas Vietnamese people should uphold positive roles and serve as a bridge to promote the cooperative ties with Japan in favor of mutual development,” said PM Dung.

The same day, PM Dung witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperative agreements between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on legal assistance for nuclear power; the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the Marubeni Corporation on Thai Binh 1 thermo-electricity plant.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Vietnamese business community assistance in Japan was signed between the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Vietnamese Business Association in Japan.
