A number of Vietnamese protestors in Sweden and Norway showed their solidarity with their countrymen on June 1 in a march to oppose illegal Chinese actions in the Vietnamese exclusive economic zone.

Around 300 Vietnamese people in Sweden took to the streets of Stockholm, waving banners and demanding that China remove its oil rig from Vietnam’s waters.

Demonstrators made their way the through thoroughfares of the city before gathering around the Chinese embassy to play recorded speeches in Vietnamese, English and Swedish, denouncing the illegal presence of the Chinese rig.

They marched almost 4km before arriving at the embassy to deliver a letter to oppose the Chinese government.

On May 25, Vietnamese in Sweden gathered at Triangeln Square, in Malmo for a similar protest.

On June 1, Vietnamese in Oslo, Norway marched to oppose the Chinese incursions in Vietnamese waters. As many as 200 joined the peaceful demonstration. They hung banners in Vietnamese, Chinese, Norwegian and English requesting the withdrawal of the Chinese oil rig from the Vietnamese exclusive economic zone.

The Vietnamese Association in Norway also registered their disapproval by sending a letter to Chinese Xi Jinping.
