Several Vietnamese fishing boats successfully saved 11 crew members of a Malaysian cargo ship on the evening of June 22.

The Vietnam Coast Radio reported that they had received information from a Vietnamese fishing boat that the Malaysian ship drifted into Vietnamese waters, about 130 nautical miles away from the Spratly Islands amid heavy rains and wind.

The Malaysian cargo vessel quickly transmitted distress signals and Vietnamese ships responded.

Afterwards, two others fishing boats joined in the rescue efforts. All the Malaysian crew members were returned to shore safely.

However, the salvage of the boat remains to be done.
