Helicopter crashes in Hanoi’s outlying district
A military helicopter crashed in the outskirts of Hanoi in the early morning of July 7 during a parachute training exercise.
The Russian-made Mi-171 plane of the Helicopter Regiment 916 of the Air Defence-Air Force Service’s Air Division 371 took off from Hoa Lac Airport in Hanoi ’s western district of Thach That at 7:30 am.
Sixteen minutes later, it lost contact and came down in Hoa Lac village, Binh Yen commune, about 3 km from the airport.
The General Staff and the General Department of Politics have sent working teams to the scene to coordinate with other forces in dealing with the incident.

Nguyen Manh Hong, Vice Chairman of the Thach That District People's Committee, said emergency response fire fighting and medical teams are en route to the scene.
