The State corporation currently seeking new recruits is the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), under the Ministry of Transport.

The candidates are all officials from the civil aviation sector, in line with Decision 301/QD-BGTVT, which approved the list of hopefuls for the concerned position.

The majority of them are already working for the recruiting corporation in different roles, such as Nguyen Dinh Cong, vice general director of VATM; Pham Viet Dung, head of VATM administration; Doan Huu Gia, vice general director of VATM; and Le Quoc Khanh, director of VATM's Vietnam Aeronautical Information Centre (VNAIC), as well as Nguyen Manh Quang, director of VATM's Air Traffic Coordination Centre.

Also applying for the examination are Lam Phuc Ha, director of Northern Region Air Traffic Services Company, and Nguyen The Hung, vice director of Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam's Air Traffic Management Division.

Transport Minister Dinh La Thang said the examination, being held from February 9 to 12 at the Ministry's headquarters at 80 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi, is just a continuation of executive recruitment examinations initiated in mid-2014; however, this is the first time such an examination has been administered for the top position in a State corporation.

At the examination, the candidates are expected to present their action plans to lead the corporation and will answer questions from the organising board. The whole process of the examination is televised from the examination room to the adjacent meeting hall, where the candidates' colleagues and family members and members of the press have been invited to watch.

In a recent speech to the media, Minister Thang said the search for people who are professionally capable, politically qualified, and quick to take action is a sensitive and complicated process, so the best way to vet the candidates is by examination. "Only recruitment through examinations can ensure transparency, democracy, the appropriate selection of a candidate and the avoidance of negative practices," he added.
