A bus faced stone attacks in Kon Tum Province

At midnight on June 1, stones were thrown at a bus in Dak Long Commune, Dak Glei District, Kon Tum Province, damaging the windscreen.

The bus’s driver, Pham Dinh Sy, said that the attackers hid themselves in roadside bushes.

Another bus was attacked only minutes earlier at the same spot.

In the early hours of June 1, two buses were pelted with stones near Dak Long Commune, and one passenger was injured.

After the incident, the National Steering Committee of Traffic Safety asked the provincial Traffic Safety Committee to investigate and mobilise police to patrol National Highway 14 in the district to maintain security.

Last month, a teenager of Ea H'leo District in Dak Lak Province was sentenced to four years' imprisonment for throwing stones at two buses travelling on a national highway in September, causing a passenger to lose an eye.

He was also fined VND12m as compensation to the two transport companies.
