Local police are searching for a young Vietnamese girl who went missing for 19 days ago during a tour to Sapa, Lao Cai Province.

Do Thi Hang was a student at the National College for Education in Hanoi. According to various reports, Hang went to Sapa with three friends on August 22 and lost contact with her family on August 24.

Hang's mother said she reported the case to the police in Hanoi and Sapa. She also went to Sapa to search for her daughter but failed to find her.

Police Colonel Tran Van Truong said they had visited all the hotels, motels and parking lots but there’s been no trace of her. The police then put up a photo of Hang at popular place but so far no-one has reported having seen her.

In 2013, a Scottish botanist, Jamie Taggart, also went missing in Sapa after leaving his hotel in Sapa without his passport and luggage. He was last seen going in the direction of Lai Chau Province and has not been seen since. He still remains missing.
